People become offended by the lyrics of John Lennon’s song called “Imagine” and yet, in all my life, I have not seen a better picture of a model world of peace that lines up so well, to that which is promised to us one day, in the book of Revelation.
Ponder these lyrics and simply imagine this world. This song was voted the most popular song on the twentieth century, so it is clear that not only Christians want this perfect world to manifest.
“Imagine there’s no countries It isn’t hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people living life in peace You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one I hope someday you’ll join us And the world will be as one Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people sharing all the world”
If we had no money, and no insatiable desire to build up all kinds of personal possessions, and the world lacked greed and selfishness, the world would be well on its way to being like this song promises.
Do you know that they have cafes and restaurants and movie theatres in Heaven? Do you know that every person has a job suited to them in Heaven and yet they don’t receive wages? Everything you want and everything you consume in Heaven is free. So money is not needed and all the issues that come with having or not having money don’t exist either.
Imagine if you will, people working in manufacturing who enjoy doing their work. There are no sweat shops paying workers next to nothing to produce our popular brands. Imagine the whole world being brothers and sisters under Christ? Imagine peace reigning and no wars or sin! That’s the New Kingdom that we can look forward to one day. It will be so exciting when it fully manifests when King Jesus returns to set up His earthly Kingdom.
Heavenly Father,
Show us the way to live on this earth. Show us the wrong choices that we so easily make that affect other people in a negative way. Help us to live better and make better choices in our way of life, so that we become more like You. Help us to love all people even when they disagree with us. In Jesus’ name, I ask. Amen.
