Proverbs 3:5-10
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a] your paths.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
8 It will be health to your flesh,[b]
And strength[c] to your bones.
9 Honor the Lord with your possessions,
And with the firstfruits of all your increase;
10 So your barns will be filled with plenty,
And your vats will overflow with new wine.
The first verse is, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart lean not on your own understanding.” This follows on the theme of trusting the Lord. If you haven’t heard like this before, this is verse is saying trust in the Lord with all of your spirit and with all of your heart and lean up on your own understanding which is means lean not on your own mind and what your mind says.
A person has to learn how to be led by the Holy Spirit, how to be directed by the Spirit of God which speaks to your heart, which speaks to the core you. Many times the Lord will tell you lead you to do something in your spirit, though your heart. You start to think about it with your mind and you talk yourself out of it. This is what this verse is saying by Solomon saying, “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart.” Don’t just give mental ascent to the Lord. Don’t say you trust the Lord but do everything that the Lord directs you to do through your spirit and don’t let your mind talk you out of it. That’s just so important.
I”In all in you ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” It’s saying that if you listen to the Lord and you trust Him and you listen to him in your spirit and you don’t listen to your mind and if you acknowledge that it’s really him that’s directing you then he will direct all your paths. He will make sure that everything you do works out well. Like we’ve said before, there won’t be brown leaves on your tree and you’ll always be bearing fruit and whatever you do shall prosper if you trust in the Lord with all your spirit and not lean on your own mind and understanding. This will happen if you acknowledge the Lord in all you do that you give the Lord all glory in all you do. You can talk about the Lord and express how the Lord has led you and blessed you and he will continue to direct your path. That’s a really important key to not only to know the verse but to actually live the verse
This is how I live; Every day in my life is directed by the Holy Spirit. Everything I do is directed by the Holy Spirit except when I sin, that’s obviously not directed by the Holy Spirit. Most of my life, a high percentage of my life is really directed by the Lord.
A visiting apostle came to our church about ten years ago, and said to my father, that he had never seen anyone that flowed with the Holy Spirit as much as I did. My father said I’ll have a big head if he told me. My mother and I asked him to tell us because he said the apostle has said something that will make any father proud. That’s true. I’m led in everything I say and do that’s why many people say my books are anointed because everything I have to say is led by the Lord.
“Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and depart from evil.” Do not be wise in your own eyes is do not be proud. Don’t think you’re smart. Understand that you have a lot to learn. Understand that the more you know, the more you need to know. Submit yourself to the Lord and humble yourself under God’s mighty hand and in due time he’ll lift you up. You need to learn to reveal the Lord and depart from evil. You need to stop doing the things that the enemy tells you to do. You need to respect the Lord and revere the Lord and actually fear the Lord. There can be consequences to your sin in the things that you do wrong. When you do that it will be held to your flesh and strength to your bones.
It makes a lot of sense if your health is going to come from fearing the Lord and departing from evil. If that’s going to bring health to your body it makes sense like the best health plans that is available. It sounds like the best plan that you can do for your health is to fear the Lord and depart from evil. Also, the pride can cause disease in your life. You need not to be wise in your own eyes.
“Honor the Lord with your possessions and with first fruits of your increase.” There’s many people who teach against tithing and pretty passionate about teaching against it. I always honor the Lord in giving and its part of who I am. I love to give. Every time someone gives me a donation that isn’t taxable I tithe a percentage of ten percent of that. Every time people give me money these first fruits that come into my ministry, I tithe on them. I give to the Lord.
If you do that next verse says, “Your vats will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with the new wine.” Not only the Lord will prosper you if you honor the Lord with your possessions and with first fruits of your increase, not only will the Lord prosper you but He will also make sure that the Holy Spirit is giving you a new wine, not only a wine to drink as like a possession but a new wine that the Holy Spirit will inspire you and give you revelations from God.
“Your vats will be filled with plenty”, which means you’ll be living in a state of abundance. You’ll be living from a place where you have enough money and enough resources to do everything you need to.
Like I have shared already, since the start of my ministry two years ago, just be pursuing the Lord and doing everything the Lord has told me to do, I’ve been producing one book a month. I’ve been directed to do everything and obey the Lord, and have written every book that he asked me to do. Some of the books like doing interviews with saints, are controversial and hard to do but I pursued the Lord and he made sure that my vats and my barns have overflowed with plenty and he’s giving me the new wine. He’s giving me plenty of revelation to share in my books. Some people are just amazed with the revelation that comes out of my books and the saints certainly speak from heaven and they certainly filled my books with amazing revelation.
I can say that the fresh revelation that I receive is a result of honoring the Lord financially. So many people have a problem with giving because they give out of the wrong spirit. They give grudgingly because they feel like they’re forced to give or they give in order to get back from the Lord and be blessed tenfold. They just don’t have the spirit to just bless the Lord and ministries that are serving the Lord. They don’t have a spirit to actually bless the Lord. I’ve got this wonderful giving spirit. I love to give. The Lord certainly supplies me with finances and puts it on the hearts of people all the time to give my ministry money and support me. This passage or scripture is so profound and so deep. I could possibly do a whole book on this series. I hope you learned something from this.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter. The words of this passage are just so rich and full of promise. The Lord really does lead his people and orders their steps. The Lord is trustworthy and quite able to prosper you as you sow to him. Obeying the Lord and not being wise in your own eyes is a good idea.
