Why can’t we talk about the good news of the Lord Jesus? Why can’t we just talk about how wonderful the Lord is? God knows it would be best if we could just forget that all the evil is going on in the world. God knows it would be wonderful to turn away from all of it and just glory in how good God is. I wish this was the way it was!!!
But unfortunately, God has not called us to live apart from the world, but to live in it, and more unfortunately, many Christians believe that they are supposed to be AS the world, and not merely be IN it. We must be in it because Christ gave himself to save the world, and suffered and bled out to redeem it, but we must not be as it, otherwise we have defeated the purpose of God in Christ, to be called out from the way of the world.
And sadly, at this point in time, those who call themselves Christians, are on the large part, WOEFULLY oblivious to what it even means to be a Christian, insomuch that they are almost impostors to the word in many cases. Many of them have good hearts and mean well, but are walking the path of disaster, if not for their souls (and in many cases it is for the soul), then at least for their life in this world.
This means that hard truths must be spoken, even though it is worthy of tears that it is even necessary to do so. God’s people must stop entertaining the idea of turning back to the world, like Lot’s wife to Sodom, and must get it squarely through their head that it is NOT acceptable to let the world off the hook!
The world is guilty and must be held accountable as such, and repentance must be preached to it, in the name of Jesus! Only when the world acknowledges its sin, does the good news of Christ’s redemption even matter. Without the grave guilt of sin, and the wickedness of the world, Christ’s death has no meaning.
Stop refusing to judge the world, and stop letting it off the hook. You are letting it off the hook of the mercy of the Great Fisherman, and throwing it back into the abyss of sin from which it was being fished out! Stop letting sinners have an excuse to stay in sin! Stop joining them! This is a battle and you must be real Christian soldiers. Fight! Don’t give up! Battle on!
To some people this would have been a hard word and totally unacceptable to the message of grace that is preached today. But it seems that sometimes the hard things need to be said even to people that are part of the grace camp!
